Privacy policy

This is a translation for convenience. The German version is the binding one.
In short
This site sets no cookies, uses no tracking and loads nothing from third-party servers. The only thing stored is a short access log with a shortened IP address; it is deleted after 7 days at the latest. There is no automated decision-making or profiling.

Hosting
The site runs on a server of STRATO GmbH in a data center in the European Union. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Strato.
Access logs
For every request, the web server stores one line with this information:
- time of the request
- shortened IP address (IPv4 without the last block, IPv6 only the first 48 bits)
- method, host and path of the requested page including any query parameters, protocol and encryption (TLS version and cipher)
- status code, size and duration of the response, and the headers sent by the server
- information sent by the browser, such as the browser identifier (user agent), the previously visited page (referrer) and the preferred language
Cookies, login data and the port number of your connection are not stored. IP addresses sent along by a proxy are also shortened or not stored at all.
Purpose: running the site, troubleshooting and defending against attacks.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is a secure and working operation.
Necessity: the data is technically required for the server to deliver the site.
Retention: the logs are deleted automatically after 7 days at the latest.
Recipients: no disclosure to third parties and no analysis by third parties. As the host, Strato has technical access to the server.
Contact by email
If you send an email, your address and the content are processed to answer your message. The emails are stored at STRATO GmbH.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is answering your inquiry. For inquiries about a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Retention: until the inquiry is settled, unless a statutory retention obligation applies.
What the site does in your browser
Planet positions, the moon phase, light or dark view, units and similar details are calculated by the site in your browser. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent to a server; the browser only loads files from this site, such as the matching moon icon for the tab.
Links to other sites
The site links to LinkedIn. Only when you click the link does your browser connect to LinkedIn; their privacy policy applies there.
Sunrise and sunset glow
Clicking the Earth in the solar system opens a forecast for colorful sunrises and sunsets. For this, your browser loads a file with weather data from this server and, once you enter a postcode, a list of postcodes. Your browser finds the nearest weather station itself; the postcode you enter is neither stored nor sent to a server. The server only sees these files being requested, as with any other file of the site (see access logs). Forecast data basis: Deutscher Wetterdienst; postcodes: GeoNames.
Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20).
Right to object: you may object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the member state of your habitual residence.
